The discussions on climate change and energy problems today center around the potential for technical solutions to energy demands that are cost effective. So far, the alternative to fossil fuels is renewable energy sources, which are expected to play an increasingly vital role in the mix of power generation over the next century. But can renewables alone meet the demands of the electrical power grid, or is there still a case to be made for nuclear power? Can solar energy ever fully replace fossil fuels?
